Beyond Strength Performance NOVA, LLC is PUMPED to host Artemis Scantalides for her “I am Not Afraid to Lift Seminar” on Saturday the 3rd, as well as her half day “Keep It Simple Nutrition And Conditioning Seminar” on Sunday the 4th. These are two CAN’T MISS days!
My wife, Jess, and I had the opportunity to attend her Lift seminar at Drive 495 in New York City last year, and it was great. So great that when Artemis brought up bringing her seminar to the DC area in October it took all of zero seconds to decide to host this great event.
Jess was just getting into kettlebell training when we went last year, and it was exactly what she needed to take the leap and attend her Strong First Girya Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor certification with me in March of this year. Outside of that welcomed push, the seminar had many great benefits:
For me (as a coach with over a decade of coaching under my belt):
- A (very) thorough review of basic kettlebell lifts and bodyweight movements
- Awesome progressions to get people (not just women!) to excel at the main kettlebell lifts and bodyweight movements
- Great cues for getting what you want out of your clients… and as a guy I wouldn’t have thought of quite a few of these, ever (“Squeeze your butt so hard you can see it from the front!” lol)
- Witness the incredible feats that Artemis is able bring out of attendees. Many people crushed PR’s and got their firs-ever weighted pull-ups (my wife included)
- The opportunity to network and meet an amazing coach!
For Jess (as a recreational lifter lightly dabbling in kettlebell training):
- A thorough introduction and review of the basic kettlebell lifts and bodyweight movements
- The push to crush her first ever weighted chin up (10kg/22lbs!)
- Lit the fire to set a big goal and go after her Level 1 SFG Kettlebell Instructor cert
- Opened her mind to what she, as well as other people, are truly capable of in the gym
These two lists could go on and on, but the point is, YOU need to be here on the 3rd and 4th of October!
So why Artemis? Well, she knows a thing or two about strength, conditioning, and attaining your goals…. She’s one of only eight girls to ever complete the “Iron Maiden Challenge.” To do this she had to do a strict press, a weighted pull-up, and a pistol squat, all with a 24kg (53lb) kettlebell! She’s also able to maintain a very lean physique year round. On top of all of that, she runs a highly successful studio in Boston with her boyfriend, Eric Gahan. Whew!!
Quick Summary of “I am Not Afraid to Lift”
This workshop is appropriate for women and men who lift of ALL levels, from beginners to advanced lifters. From those people who have never lifted weights before, to those advanced lifters who want to take their training to the next level by improving program design or by learning new techniques to work towards a specific strength goal such as a weighted pull-up or a max bodyweight press or half bodyweight Turkish get-up. This workshop will help you to learn programming in order to reach your goal.
Even though this workshop is geared towards women and encouraging women to not be afraid to lift weights, it is open to both women and men to attend. The ratio of women to men attending is usually 5-1. In addition, if you are a personal trainer, it will help you to learn how to encourage your female clients to lift heavy weights and work towards a significant strength goal versus the number on the scale.
At this workshop I will teach movements specific to both kettlebell training and bodyweight training. The kettlebell training movements will include both grinds (strength movements) and ballistics (explosive movements that translate to cardiovascular conditioning like the kettlebell swing). I will also teach how the kettlebell and your body can be the ONLY tools you need to be strong and fit. – Read more from Artemis @ http://ironbodybyartemis.com/upcoming-workshops/i-am-not-afraid-to-lift-2/
Quick Summary of “Keep it Simple Nutrition and Conditioning”
In this half-day workshop “Keep It Simple Nutrition And Conditioning”, I will teach you how to incorporate a simple, and sustainable approach to nutrition and conditioning into your overall nutrition and fitness plan.
At this half-day workshop you will learn my nutrition philosophy, which is a combination of teachings from Precision Nutrition with a holistic approach from Paul Chek and the Chek Institute, which includes everything from sleep and managing stress to eliminating the use of a microwave, and the importance of eating organic foods, grass fed meats, and body type eating.
You will also learn how to structure and program simple kettlebell conditioning segments, and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) segments into your overall training program for maximal, time efficient results. – Read more from Artemis @ http://ironbodybyartemis.com/upcoming-workshops/keep-it-simple-nutrition-and-conditioning/
